Israel arrests five suspected ISIS supporters from Nazareth

Israeli-Arab members of terror cell were planning attacks inspired by ISIS; they were indicted after Shin Bet investigation found they were practicing with rifles.

Israel's security forces arrested five Israeli Arabs from Nazareth on suspicion they were planning terror attacks inspired by the Islamic State, it was cleared for publication on Tuesday.

 

  

A Shin Bet investigation found that over the past year, the five went through a process of radicalization, holding meetings in which they expressed their support for the Islamic State group.

 

They also obtained weapons - including a Russian semi-automatic SKS rifle and a Carl Gustav recoilless rifle - and practiced using them in a wooded area outside Nazareth.

 

The Shin Bet named the suspects as: Abed al-Karim Abed al-Rahman Suliman, 22; Mohammed Ihab Abed al-Rahman Suliman, 18; Abed al-Karim Jamal Ali Suliman, 23; Mohammed Salah Mohammed Suliman, 19; and Morad Mohammed Salim Suliman, 27 - all from Nazareth.

The northern district prosecution filed an indictment against the five at the Nazareth District Court. Among the charges are arms-related offenses, support of an unlawful organization, and attending meetings of an unlawful organization.

 

According to the indictment, the members of the cell gathered to watch ISIS videos and speeches of clerics with ties to the terror organization together, and talked about the need to commit jihad against "infidels."

 

The indictment filed against 22-year-old Abed al-Karim Abed al-Rahman Suliman, the leader of the cell, said that "during the meetings, the defendant expressed his desire to leave for Iraq and Syria in order to fight with ISIS, as well as his desire to commit attacks against Jews."
