3 soldiers wounded in Qalandiya clashes, 2 attackers shot dead

Palestinians tried to run over troops in two separate incidents during overnight raids of the refugee camp; soldiers believed to have been hurt from friendly fire during neutralization of attackers.

Two Palestinians attempting to commit vehicular attacks against IDF and Border Police troops were shot dead by Israeli forces during an arrest raid at the Qalandiya refugee camp early Wednesday.

Three IDF soldiers were wounded from gunfire in one of the attacks, one of them moderately and the other two lightly. Military officials said they believe the soldiers were wounded by friendly fire during the neutralization of the attacker. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to hospitals in Jerusalem for treatment.

In a second attack elsewhere at the refugee camp, a Palestinian attacker tried to run over Border Police troops and was shot dead. Dozens of Palestinians rioted and clashed with IDF troops on the scene as the soldiers were working to confiscate weapons.
According to Palestinian reports, IDF troops entered the Qalandiya refugee camp and Kafr 'Aqab overnight in search for Palestinian suspects, several of which were arrested. The troops also reportedly searched businesses at both locations.

The two killed attackers were identified on Palestinian media as 21-year-old Ahmad Jahajha from Qalandiya and 29-year-old Hikmat Hamdan from the nearby town of al-Bireh. The Palestinian Health Ministry said four Palestinians were wounded from gunfire.
