Israel insists on pro-settler ambassador to Brazil

Israel said Monday it will use "all means" to ensure Brazil accepts a former representative for settlers as its ambassador in the South American country, after a months-long delay.

Brasilia has still not accepted the nomination of Dani Dayan, made at the beginning of August by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The foreign ministry will use all the means at its disposal to confirm the nomination of Dani Dayan," Deputy Minister Tzipi Hotovely was quoted as saying in a statement issued after a meeting about the subject.

"We will not accept a situation where we do not name an ambassador because of their political opinions," the statement said.
