Government approves: Maximum period of detention in Holot to be 12 months

The government on Sunday approved the recommendation of Interior Minister Aryeh Deri to amend the prevention of infiltration law, which would bring the law in line with the Supreme Court's order to restrict the maximum detention time of asylum seekers can spend in Holot detention center to 12 months.

According to Deri the law will pass its second and third readings by February 10, the date ordered by the Supreme Court.
