Snow day: Israel painted white

IN PICTURES: From the wildlife of the Golan Heights to the overflowing rivers of the Negev, these photos capture the fleeting period when Israel's landscape is temporarily transformed.

A winter storm on Sunday night dumped snow and rain on Israel, bringing the first seriously wintry weather of the 2015-2016 season.

And while this storm pales in comparison to the major blizzard that brought more than two feet of snow to parts of the United States, a feeling of true winter is cause for some Israelis to run outside with their cameras. From the wildlife of the Golan Heights to the overflowing rivers of the Negev, these pictures capture the fleeting period when Israel's landscape is temporarily transformed.
