IDF battalion commanders dismissed following death of IDF officer in training accident
IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot ordered the dismissal of the battalion commander, deputy battalion commander and deputy company commander of the 75th Battalion of the 7th Armored Corps Division, after an investigatory committee examining the circumstances of a training accident that killed an IDF officer published its findings. A further three junior officers were dismissed.
Captain Yishai Rosales was killed at Tze'elim base after being struck by shrapnel from a mortar shell that had been fired in the wrong direction.
According to the investigation, the accident was primarily caused by professional shortcomings of the mortar crew .
