Conflict of interest between PM, new AG not mentioned in legal document

Despite having served as cabinet secretary, a position of trust with the prime minister, Mandelblit's ties to Netanyahu are not mentioned in conflict of interest disclosure the new attorney general signed.

The Justice Ministry released the conflict of interest disclosure signed by new Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Tuesday, which does not mention the ties Mandelblit has with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mandelblit, who took up his post on Monday, previously served as the cabinet secretary, which is considered a position of trust with the prime minister.

The document does state Mandelblit's ties with Lod deputy mayor Yosef Haim Harush, who is the new AG's brother-in-law.

According to the document, Mandelblit will have to consult with the Justice Ministry's legal adviser, Leah Rakower, on all matters regarding the Lod municipality in general, and issues regarding his brother-in-law in particular.

The document also notes Mandelblit's past as the IDF Advocate General. "In cases when claims are made against the decisions I made at the Military Advocate General, if such are brought to my table during my term as the attorney general, it will be made clear that this limitation will not apply to the legal supervision of legal matters in which I was involved as the Military Advocate General."
