Former GOC Northern Command Avigdor "Yanush" Ben-Gal passes away
Maj.-Gen. (res.) Avigdor "Yanush" Ben-Gal, the former GOC Northern Command, who also headed the Israel Aerospace Industries, passed away on Saturday at the age of 79.
Ben-Gal was the commander of the 7th Division, which fought off a much larger Syrian Armored Corps force during the Yom Kippur War, in a battle that went down in Israel's history.
