US citizen abducted in 2012 released by Syrian authorities
WASHINGTON - A US citizen held by Syrian authorities has been released, spokesman John Kirby said on Friday.
In a statement, Kirby said the department welcomed the news but did not name the individual. The Washington Post, citing two US officials, earlier reported the release of freelance photographer Kevin Dawes, who had been abducted after traveling to Syria in 2012.
