Russian military bus falls into ravine, killing 6 officers

MOSCOW- Russia's military says a bus carrying Russian officers has fallen into a deep ravine, killing six of the officers and injuring the other 16 on board.
The Defense Ministry says the bus was traveling on a mountainous road in the breakaway Georgian republic of South Ossetia on Thursday morning when the brakes failed.
Moscow recognized South Ossetia's independence after Russia defeated Georgia in a brief war in 2008 and has deployed troops to the region, which is home to about 50,000 people.
