Grenade attack in Burundi focused on president's hometown ends with one person killed

The governor of a rural province in Burundi said that on Tuesday, one person was been killed in a grenade explosion in the hometown of President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Albert Nduwimana, the governor of the Ngozi Province, said four others were wounded in the attack on a parking lot for passenger bicycles in Ngozi town. He said the attacker, a man dressed in military fatigues, was also killed in the explosion.

Nkurunziza's decision last year to seek a third term sparked violent unrest in which hundreds have been killed. Most of the violence has been reported in the capital, Bujumbura, but attacks have occurred elsewhere in the country.
