Algerian club Setif thrown out of African Champions League

Algerian club Entente Setif was thrown out of the African Champions League on Friday for fan trouble that caused a game to be called off and left spectators and security officials injured.

The Confederation of African Football disqualified the two-time African champion following the problems near the end of last weekend's game against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

With Sundowns leading 2-0 in injury time, fans invaded the field and threw bottles, stones and firecrackers, injuring police and other spectators, CAF said. The referee stopped the match. Tournament rules call for the home club to be kicked out if a game is stopped because of fan violence.
