Ministers Bennet and Shaked to oppose Turkey reconciliation deal

Bayit Yehudi party chair and Minister of Education Naftali Bennett has responded to the proposed deal that would reestablish relations between Israel and Turkey, saying, “Reconciliation is important for this time and for the interests of the state of Israel. Even so, paying reparations to the generators of terrorist activity is a dangerous precedent that the state of Israel will regret in the future. The state of Israel must not pay compensation to terrorists who tried to harm the IDF. As far as there is Turkish control over Hamas, they better do all they can to make sure that Oron Shaul – may they rest in peace – are returned to Israel.”

Minister Bennet and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, also of his party, are expected to vote against Israel’s adoption of the agreement.
