Ethiopian-Israeli protesters block major Tel Aviv street
About 400 Israelis of Ethiopian descent demonstrated in Tel Aviv Sunday, blocking Kaplan St. between Ibn Gabirol St. and Menachem Begin Road. They protested the unfair treatment Ethiopian-Israelis receive from the authorities, and police brutality in particular.
Some of the protesters wore shirts featuring the image of Yosef Salamsa, an Ethiopian-Israeli youth who committed suicide in 2014. Some claim the motive for his suicide was trauma caused by police brutality.
