Court orders to send Katsav's early release request back to parole board

The Lod District Court on Tuesday ordered to send former president Moshe Katsav's request for early release from prison back to the parole board.
Katsav is serving a seven-year prison term after being convicted of rape. In February, the parole board decided to reject his request to cut his sentence by a third, leading the disgraced former president to appeal the decision.
On Thursday, the Prisoner Rehabilitation Authority announced a new policy, which will involve the reexamination of complex cases, including Katsav's.
Authority representatives met wih the former president in prison and are likely working on a new opinion regarding his prospects for rehabilitation.
