Chief of staff: Karim to be next IDF chief rabbi, despite controversy

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot announced on Wednesday that Rabbi Col. Eyal Karim is still going to be appointed the next chief rabbi of the IDF.

This comes following the recent exposure of many controversial pronouncements in the past, in which the rabbi expressed that women should not serve in the IDF, raping female gentiles in wartime was permissible as a morale-booster, and that orders contrary to Jewish law should not be followed.
