7,850 police officers fired and weapons confiscated overnight in Turkey

Following the failed coup in Turkey Friday night, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has begun to dismantle the internal opposition that his regime is facing by dismissing officials and law enforcement personnel suspected of involvment in the attempt to overthrow him.

Along these lines, some 7,850 officers have been fired overnight.
