Arab League chairman Ahmed Aboul Gheit has asserted that stability and security in the Middle East depended on solving the Palestinian issue.
During a meeting of the Arab foreign ministers he said, "The Israeli occupation of the Palestinian and Arab territories constitutes a central threat to the Arab's national security."
