Deri attacks public broadcasting, complains of animosity toward the ultra-Orthodox in Israeli media

During a government meeting concerning the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation on Sunday, Minister of the Interior and Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee Aryeh Deri (Shas) came out strongly against what he perceives is institutionalized discrimination that ultra-Orthodox journalists face in mainstream media.

"We feel like we don't belong in Israeli media," he said. "But just so you know, there are dozens of truly smart and talented Haredi journalists who cannot find a place for themselves in public broadcsting, Channel 2 or Channel 10." He concluded by saying, "The public I represent is completely shut out of general media."
