Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan has decided to dismiss Assistant Commissioner Nissim Edri from service in the Israel Police. Erdan made the decision after considering the matter, and the recommendation of former Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino, who supported Edri's dismissal.

Edri was convicted of several severe disciplinary violations, including disrefarding an order, improper behavior, and giving false information during an internal affairs investigation.

"I am very sorry about the dismissal of Assistant Commissioner Edri, who served in the police for many years and reached impressive achievements," Erdan said, "but his actions, which were detailed in the court's report, do no conform with the values that must be engrained in the Israel Police, and thus (they) necessitated his dismissal."
