Artillery rounds found on Galilee beach

A man walking along the shores of the Sea of Galilee reported seeing a suspicious object close to Kibbutz Maagan; after conducting an investigation, police discovered five unexploded artillery rounds; sappers were called in and the rounds were neutralized.

Five artillery rounds were discovered on the coast of the Sea of Galilee outside of Kibbutz Maagan on Monday.

 

 

Police were called to the scene closed down the beach and took the artillery rounds to a remote area. Police and IDF sappers then neutralized the explosives.

The rounds' origin is still unclear, as is how long the rounds were laying on the shore.

They were discovered after a man walking along the beach saw one of the rounds exposed on the beach, and when the police arrived on the scene to investigate, they found four more.

 

A local resident was quoted as saying "this is really weird, and it's not clear how the artillery rounds ended up here. It's really lucky that they were found before someone got hurt. They could have caused a disaster.
