Rain in the middle of summer
Israelis were surprised to see rain falling in the Sharon plains on Wednesday morning; meteorologist says phenomenon not necessarily rare.
Israelis living in the Sharon plains were surprised on Wednesday morning to see rain falling in the middle of August.
"Light rains in the summer are not necessarily a rare thing. We experience this phenomenon once every few years," according to meteorologist Avi Yaakov Zada from Meteo Tech. "Though in recent years we've had relatively hot summers, compared to the average."

Despite the slight drop in temperatures that accompanied the rain, Zada said the weather will return to normal on Thursday and that a rise in temperatures is expected to continue into the weekend.
