Suspected car bomb hits military convoy in Somali capital -police

A military convoy transporting an army general in the Somali capital of Mogadishu was hit by a suspected car bomb on Sunday, a police officer said.
Police Major Mohamed Aden told Reuters there were no immediate details about casualties and he did not indicate who might be behind the blast, but it bore the hallmarks of Islamist group al Shabaab which regularly launches attacks in Mogadishu.
Reuters witnesses heard the explosion echo across the seaside city.
