An IDF soldier was seriously injured during a training exercise at a base in the south. The soldier, who suffered a head injury, was evacuated by helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva.
The wounded soldier has been identified as a junior commander at the Shizafon armored corps training base. The soldier was apparently struck in the head under unclear circumstances by the tank's turret. The incident is being investigated by the IDF.
This is the second training injury in as many days when another incident occurred Monday when an infantry soldier was lightly wounded after being struck in the back by a ricochet bullet at a training facility near Modi'in.
