Meet the first borns of 5777

The first children to be born in Israel in the Hebrew year 5777 have arrived into the world to elated parents and families; one of the lucky parents: 'makes us feel like we are also a part of a huge a wonderful family – the family of the nation of Israel.'

Dozens of families celebrated their Rosh Hashanah in the delivery room of hospitals throughout the country on Monday, as the first babies of the New Year were born in Israel.

 

 

The first baby born in Israel in 5777 to Shai and Amnon Rafaeli from Petah Tikva who gave birth at 7:15pm at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba. Their new born baby daughter weighed 8.8 lbs.

 

"We are honored to have given birth to our daughter on Rosh Hashanah. It’s the first of many changes for the year," the couple said.

"(Monday) evening we changed – we turned into a family. The experience of giving birth on the eve of a holiday, at a time when every family in Israel is sitting together, makes us feel like we are also a part of a huge a wonderful family – the family of the nation of Israel."


At Ziv Medical Center in Tzfat, Ma'ayan and Yaniv Tal Or from Karmiel gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing seven pounds at 8:07pm. The happy couple had two daughters waiting for them back at the family holiday dinner.

The couple still haven't decided on a name, but know it will be a festive name which characterizes the day on which he was born.

About an hour later, Adi and Tal ben Simon gave birth to a baby girl at Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv, weighing 8.25 pounds.

 

"It’s the beginning of a new year with a new girl who has joined our family. It will definitely be a good year for us – without a doubt."

Finally, at the Hillel Yafeh Hospital in Hadera, a boy was born to Jenny and Eyal Barbelak, both form Hadera at 7.4 pounds. Eyal is the head of the spinal unit in the orthopedic wing of the hospital. The parents still haven't decided on a name for their new child.

 

"Our baby was born on the exact date he was due – neither a day late nor early. We didn't pay attention that the due date was going to fall on Rosh Hashanah when the doctors told us nine months ago," they said.
