Witness testimony stage closed in Sgt. Azaria trial
The presentation of evidence concluded in the trial of Sgt. Elort Azaria Wednesday at a special military court in Jaffa. In total, 21 witnesses testified against the soldier, who shot to death a seriously wounded terrorist earlier this year, and 31 testified in his defense.
Azaria’s defense lawyers have requested that he be released him military detention on his base. The legal team suggested that he be allowed to return home at the end of every week like all soldiers until the final verdict is reached.
