Israel clarified to France on Monday that it would not participate in a peace summit that Paris plans to hold by the end of 2016.
In a meeting in Jerusalem, acting-National Security head Brig. Gen (res.) Yaakov Nagel and the Prime Minister's diplomatic envoy Yitzhak Molcho told Pierre Vimont, France's special envoy for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, that Israel believe promoting peace can only be done by direct negotiations and that any other initiative only serves to push peace further away.
