Visitors to the Tel Aviv port escape after a brawl is confused for a terrorist attack
Panic sends dozens for cover in TLV port, as altercation confused for terror attack
A café fight was mistaken for a terrorist attack, sending visitors of the Tel Aviv port into a frenzy; police eventually arrive and arrest those involved in the actual brawl.
After a physical brawl escalated on Saturday at the Tel Aviv port, passersby were alarmed when they heard someone screaming "Terror attack!" in response to the violent outburst. As a result, a swarm of visitors began running away from the pier and boardwalk, many simply following the lead of others.
As the panic died down, the root of the event became clearer: a preliminary report found that five customers of a boardwalk café got into a heated argument with a waiter, which eventually escalated into a physical fight.
"This is not a terrorist attack," the police was quick to issue in its response. After arriving on the scene, police officers arrested the individuals involved.
