Knesset approves in first reading to postpone launch of new Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation

The Knesset approved in a first reading on Monday to postpone the launch of the new Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC) to the end of April 2017.
The legislation proposal removes the option to bring forward the launch to January.
Even before the bill passed in a first reading, the High Court of Justice issued a decree nisi, demanding the state to provide reasons for its decision to postpone the launch of the IPBC rather than launch on January 1, 2017. The state has five days to submit its response.
