The Haifa Port had to pay a NIS 2,196,480 fine it received from the Environmental Protection Ministry after failing to prevent and reduce air pollution, the ministry said Monday.
The fine was imposed, among other reason, for unloading not according to instructions in a way that could create dust pollution, failing to install equipment meant to monitor dust pollution levels and failing to inspect dust pollution levels according to the ministry's instructions.
The ministry did reduce 40 percent of the fine's sum due to the fact the port did take actions to prevent a repeat of the violations and to reduce the damage.
