Last August, an unmanned flight instrument crashed during a training exercise near the northern town of Umm al-Fahm.

As a result of the crash, 25 people were lightly injured from smoke inhalation, including 13 children.

Five years ago, an IDF observation balloon crashed one kilometer inside the northern Gaza Strip.

Last week, an Israeli aerial company, RT Aerostats Systems, announced that over the course of the last few months it had completed the production of a micro-observation balloon SkyStar 110.

The balloon is intended for gathering visual intelligence of small details such as car registration numbers. It is also designed to assist in locating attackers.

The micro-balloon is yet to have been purchased by the IDF
