Attorney general to publish opinion on conflict of interests in new Netanyahu-Shimron case
Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is expected to give his official opinion on a new conflict of interests between the Prime Minister's Office and PM Netanyahu's own lawyer, David Shimron; this comes after ongoing corruption allegations involving Shimron and the commissioning of naval defense vessels from German company ThyssenKrupp.
Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is set to publish his opinion on a new conflict of interests case between the Prime Minister's Office and Communications Ministry and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's private lawyer, David Shimron, as well as his practice, Shimron-Molcho.
Meanwhile, Mandelblit issued a general order that anyone working in a government office in which a minister or deputy minister must refrain from getting involved in a certain case due to a possible conflict of interests, will also avoid getting involved in such a case.
The new order comes following corruption allegations surrounding the awarding of a defense contract to Germany's ThyssenKrupp and involving a conflict of interests with Netanyahu's lawyer Shimron. Netanyahu, for his part, has repeatedly come out against these allegations and has stated that all was done according to protocol.
