The theme of this year's Tel Aviv Pride parade will be bisexuality. The decision for the June celebration was reached by the voters in the LGBT community and the Tel Aviv Municipality.
The Tel Aviv Pride parade arrived on the scene in 1998, and has since become one of the more visible and extravagant events of the city. Last year it was attended by approximately 150,000 people.
Each year, a theme for the parade is selected. Last year it was "Women for a Change" and two years ago it focused on the trans community.
"We need a bisexual parade to help us remember that multiple loves and attractions have a place," said Ori Berwald, an activist within the bisexual community. "Bisexuality isn't 'a phase' anymore, but a present and existing identity that refuses to go away even if we have been told otherwise. It isn't shameful to celebrate our sexuality, our right to choose."
