The state will respond in 9 days to the petition requesting the attorney general be prevented in handling the 2000 case
Israel's Supreme Court ordered the state to respond to Eldad Yaniv's petition to forbid Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit involvement with the 2000 case – the case regarding the conversations between PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Yediot Aharonot newspaper owner and publisher Arnon Mozes.
The petition claims that Mandelblit is under conflict of interest due to his position as Cabinet Secretary, and so must relinquish his investigative authority and transfer it to Deputy Prosecutor Shai Nitzan or another at the state's attorney's office.
