Haifa murder of schoolbus driver was a terror attack

Haifa District Prosecutor submitted to the district court an indictment against Muhammad Yosef Shinawi, a 21-year-old Haifa resident, for the murder of schoolbus driver Guy Kafri at the beginning of the month. According to the indictment, Shinawi was nationalistically-motivated and the murder is defined as a terror attack.

The indictment stated that "over the years, the defendant's hatred toward Jews escalated, as well as his belief that Jews are infidels and thus valid targets for physical harm." During his interrogation by the Shin Bet, Shianwai confessed to using a Carlo shotgun that was in his possession, and that his girlfriend's goading, calling him a "Zionist-Jew" and "Jew lover" served as catalyst to the attack.
