Precedent: running over a police officer entails restitution payment to the state
An individual charged with running over a police officer in 2013 and disabling him, will compensate the state with a sum of 150,000 NIS following a procedure conducted by the Ministry of Defense.
The event occurred on route 443, when a motorcyclist burst through a police roadblock, ran over a police officer and fled the scene.
The perpetrator was sentenced to 5 and a half months in prison and restitution payments to the officer, who suffered a severe injury to his leg and was declared as disabled by the Ministry of Defense.
