Netanyahu's US visit found to be on expensive side

A document made public on Tuesday shows the costs of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent trip to the US; some of the pricier items on the list include $13,000 for phone calls and $3,500 for hair and makeup for Netanyahu and his wife Sara.

A document made public on Tuesday by Army Radio showed the relatively high priced expenditures from Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to the US earlier this month, to meet President Donald Trump and his wife Melania.

The document showed that the prime minister's entourage was made up of 26 people and included advisors, visitation coordinators, communications coordinators and logistics workers.

They were accompanied by 50 security guards, a relatively low number due to the fact that Netanyahu and his wife Sara stayed the White House's secured guest residence, Blair House.

The personnel and guards that didn’t find room in Blair House stayed in the Willard Hotel near the White House for a total of $45,000.

Other expenditures recorded in the document included phone call bills amounting to $13,000 and $3,500 worth of hair and makeup for the prime minister and his wife Sara.

This is of course all pocket money compared to the cost of leasing the plane for their flight, which was an estimated $1 million.

In total, the Washington trip cost the tax payers between NIS4 – 4.5 million.

By careful estimation, the prime minister's travels over the recent two months—to Washington, Singapore, Australia, China and to then Washington again—have cost about NIS15 million.
