Troops shoot Palestinian woman thought to be armed

Woman approached the soldiers at the Qalandiya checkpoint on foot on the vehicles lane with unidentified object in hand and ignored calls to stop, leading the security forces to shoot and neutralize her, lightly wounding her. No weapon found on her person.

A Palestinian woman was shot at the Qalandiya checkpoint on Monday afternoon when security forces suspected she planned to carry out a stabbing attack. A search of her possessions, however, did not find any possible weapons.

Troops at the checkpoint saw the woman approaching towards them on a road meant for vehicles while holding an unidentified object in her hand.

They ordered her to stop. She ignored their repeated calls and continued walking towards them while holding her bag in a way that raised their suspicion, leading the troops to shoot in order to neutralize her.

The suspect, a resident Kafr 'Aqab around 20 years old, was taken to the hospital in light condition.
