IDF attacks 2 Hamas targets in Gaza after shooting at soldiers

Israeli troops come under fire from the strip during routine operations near the border fence; none of the soldiers were hurt, minor damage caused to military tractor.

IDF tanks and Air Force fighter jets destroyed two Hamas targets in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip on Thursday afternoon, minutes after an Israeli force came under fire during routine operations near the border fence.

No soldiers were wounded in the incident, and only minor damage was caused to a military tractor.

On Wednesday, a rocket fired from Gaza fell in an open area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, the latest of a trickle of rockets over the past month.

Earlier this week, Israel Air Force fighter jets attacked five Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire at southern Israel.

"Since I got (to the Defense Ministry), we've been responding to every rocket and every provocation forcefully," Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman told Ynet on Thursday morning.

He added, however, that not all rockets receive a response as "we don't live by Hamas's schedule, and we don't need to let them get used to patterns of response. We consider every action. There's a leadership in the military—responsible, level-headed serious and determined."
