Drivers are threatening to disrupt transportation operations within the company if their demands are not met. In the meantime, management has decided to temporarily suspend the dispatcher until the end of a hearing and investigation into the matter.
One of the witnesses in the incident was driver Jamil Alhamamda, who told Ynet, "Last Thursday, a group of us were sitting in the office when one of the drivers told the dispatcher that he and another driver wanted to have a traditional Islamic reconciliation ceremony between them.
"The dispatcher responded by making a racist comment about the Prophet Muhammad. The other drivers and I were extremely offended. We are demanding that he be fired and not just suspended, because these things are serious. There is no need to keep employees who do not respect religion."
In light of the event, the CEO of Metropoline penned a letter to drivers saying, "We will have zero tolerance for racial abuse. As an enlightened society, where we have employees of different national groups, we believe that equal rights should be given to everyone regardless of their country of origin, religion and gender.
"Therefore, it was decided to put a stop to this employee's administrative responsibilities immediately until an investigation as demanded by law is finished."
