Labor party announces leadership race on July 3

The Labor party announced on Sunday that it will hold an election to pick its next leader on July 3.
Among the candidates are current chairman Isaac Herzog, former minister Avi Gabai and MK Omer Bar-Lev, but others are expected to also throw their hat in the ring before the registration deadline on May 1.
If no candidate is able to secure more than 40 percent of the vote on July 3, a second round will be held on July 13 between the two leading candidates.
