Kahlon announces establishment of Kulanu faction in Histadrut

Minister of the Treasury Moshe Kahlon announced the formation of a new faction in the Histadrut (Israel's organization of trade unions) on behalf of the Kulanu party.

"As the national-social party, it is only natural that Kulanu be involved in the decision making of the largest labor body in the country," said Kahlon.

The minimum number of signatures required to form a new faction in the Histadrut is 5,000. Kulanu managed to get 15,000 signatures.

Kahlon's announcement comes as news broke of a deal brokered between Shelly Yachimovich (who is running to become the next head of the Histadrut) and MK Eitan Cabel (Zionist Union), in which Cabel would ensure support for Yachimovich and ensure she meets the amount of signatures required and in turn, Yachimovich will support Cabel against Yitzhak Herzog in a race for the head of the Labor party.
