Steinitz visits US counterpart, discusses energy cooperations and Israeli concerns over Iran
Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz (Likud) visited US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry in Washington on Friday. The two discussed having US companies enter Israel's energy market by searching for natural gas and oil, as well as the strategic importance of setting up gas pipelines from Israel to Europe.
Steinitz presented Perry with Israel's concerns over Iranian efforts to turn Syria into its own front, including plans to set up army bases in the neighboring country.
The two also talked of broadening cooperation between Israel and the US over matters of cyber protections for electricity, natural gas and energy infrascturctures in general.
