The Syrian rebel delegation to Astana talks was not ready at this point to attend a new round of Syria talks due to start on Tuesday in the Kazakh capital, a senior member of the delegation said on Monday.
Colonel Ahmad Othman who heads the Turkey-backed Sultan Murad rebel brigade said they were awaiting a Russian response to a letter that demands Moscow acts as a guarantor and ends violations in a shaky ceasefire brokered last December by Russia and Turkey.
"Nothing has been implemented so far," said Othman referring to Russian strikes on civilians in rebel-held areas and assaults waged by the Syrian army to advance in rebel-held besieged areas.
