On Tuesday, the police carried out an undercover operation to arrest the attackers of ultra-Orthodox soldiers in Beit Shemesh, using policemen who went undercover as soldiers.
Two ultra-Orthodox men who physically assaulted the disguised policemen were arrested by other undercover police officers who were present.
The operation began with the disguised police officers walking the street, who were dressed as soldiers serving in the Military Police. After a short time, local residents gathered around them and shouted abuse at them.
Later on, two of them approached the policemen and physically attacked them. At this point, additional undercover policemen who were dressed as ultra-Orthodox Jews jumped on the two assailants and arrested them.
The police said that this is just one part in a series of operations in which police officers disguise themselves as Haredi soldiers to elicit attacks after a series of recent violent incidents.
