Russian Amb: 'Syria responsible for protecting sovereignty'

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasifkin, said in an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that his country's involvement in Syria was "a struggle against terrorist organizations in the country."

This is in response to the question of why Russia does not defend the Syrian regime from American attacks and/or those attributed to Israel.

Zasifkin added, "The Syrian regime is responsible for missions related to the protection of Syrian sovereignty, and we support it in this area."
