Zehava Shaul, the mother of soldier Oron Shaul, who is defined as an IDF soldier whose burial place is unknown, said at the memorial ceremony in the town of Poriya Illit that "I am standing here in front of an orphaned stone that is meant to remind everyone that my son Oron did not return from the mission to which he was sent."

Shaul added that "more than a thousand days have passed and you are in captivity of Hamas, and I do not know what happened to you. Heartbreak, and there is no greater pain than that. I have to tell you that the state you came to defend does not make it easier for me to bring you back. I believe that we will soon manage to bring you back, and only then will I be able to return to life, because as it is now, this life is no life."
