Human Rights Watch condemned Hamas for holding the two Israeli citizens, Abera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayyid, illegally in the Gaza Strip. Hamas claimed that they were IDF soldiers. The organization called on Hamas leaders to provide evidence of the crimes of the two detainees and demanded that they be treated humanely and allowed to contact their families.
