Rivlin on Erdogan's remarks: 'We will continue to ensure freedom of religion for all religions and believers'
President Reuven Rivlin responded to the remarks made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and said that "we have heard statements attacking Israel for building a Jewish life in Jerusalem—in the past 150 years there has been a Jewish majority in the city, even under the Ottoman Empire." Rivlin added that "under Jewish sovereignty, we have continued to build and establish Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people. There is no doubt that Jerusalem is a microcosm of our ability to live together, and we will continue to ensure freedom of religion for all religions and believers."
