Netanyahu issues statement to IBA closure

The day after the last broadcast of Channel 1, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he was not aware of the way the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) was closed, and made it clear that he had heard about the decision through the media.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement, "The decision to close the IBA in the way it was was disrespectful. The Prime Minister heard about it in the media, and this was done neither by his own hand nor his knowledge, The Prime Minister was the one who fought for the channel to continue to broadcast and for more workers would be absorbed into the new Israel Public Broadcasting Company (IPBC)."
